Hi,
My friend has bought an iPhone 4s and he asked me for a help as he could not even make the itunes working on his PC.
so i tried to install it myself (iTunes v11) on his PC.
I got the following popup error mesage:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32-policy",version="8.0.50727.6195",pub licKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. (...)
i carried on with the installation and got two more errors:
Service "Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
( i dont remember the other one but it was very similar), i ignored and carried on.
Installation was completed but iTunes would not run saying somethign about "error 2" and problems with starting Apple Application Support.
We've tried everything: Windows Updates, reinstallations, registry cleans, VC reinstall, older version install, AAS reinstall, AMD reinstalls and hundreds of other solution proposed on various forums around the globe.
Nothing has given us any kind of positive result.
I suspect that the issue is with the Microsoft Visual Studio which is installed on that PC.
If i'm not mistaken it runs with VC11 (it's VS 2012).
My understanding of this is that itunes keeps trying to install VC8 on a PC with newer version of VC and as system refuses it's because apple wants to come with older version, apple throws the error and does not finish the installation succesfully - of course i might be wrong but after days of trying - only this comes to my head as a possible root cause.
Can someone help here?
I don't want to touch the VC2012.
thanks a lot.
